BNTD’s Nichols, Bluestein and Sullivan selected for 2017 Super Lawyers List

We have some news to share from the office here at BNTD Law — partners John Nichols, Marti Bluestein, and Allison Sullivan have all been recently recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine! More information continues below.

Nichols and Bluestein were included in the 2017 South Carolina Super Lawyers list and Sullivan was included in the 2017 South Carolina Rising Stars list. Super Lawyers selects attorneys through a patented multiphase selection process, which includes a combination of peer nominations, evaluations, and independent research. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis, with each candidate evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

Each year, South Carolina Super Lawyers list recognizes no more than five percent of attorneys in the state. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in South Carolina are named to its Rising Stars list.

This year marks John Nichols' eighth consecutive appearance in the South Carolina Super Lawyers. He was named in the category of Appellate Practice. A founding member of BNTD, his practice areas include litigation support and appeals, attorney disciplinary defense, business litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and criminal defense.

Nichols was an inaugural recipient of the G. Dewey Oxner Jr. Mentor of the Year award, was selected for inclusion in the 2015 and 2016 Best Lawyers® in America and was named the “2013 Lawyer of the Year” by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. He is past president of the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar and South Carolina Association for Justice and has served on a number of committees with the South Carolina Bar.

Nichols has also served on the boards of the Richland Public Library Foundation and the University of South Carolina chapter of Coaches versus Cancer. He is a founding member of the Furman University Riley Institute Diversity Leadership Consortium. He also serves on the South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense.

A partner at BNTD, Marti Bluestein’s practice areas include Workers’ Compensation and Mediation. This marks the third year she has been selected to the South Carolina Super Lawyers list in the area of Worker’s Compensation. She has been included for selection in The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2015 and was named Columbia Workers’ Compensation Claimants “Lawyer of the Year” by The Best Lawyers in America in 2013 and 2016. She is the South Carolina board chair of the South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center, is Past President of the Injured Workers’ Advocates and is listed in The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers.

This is the fourth year Allison Sullivan has been named to the South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
